“How is the money raised during school fundraisers distributed?”

Los Compadres fundraisers are used for student enrichment programs and for campus and classroom improvements. ASB funds are directly utilized for student events and programs only, such as school parties or dances.

 

“When and where does Los Compadres hold meetings and who can attend? How can I found out what I missed if I wasn’t able to attend a meeting?”

“What is Los Compadres de Escuela Longfellow?”

Los Compadres is Longfellow’s parent-teacher organization (PTO). Los Compadres is registered with the State of California as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. All families are automatically members-there are no dues required. Monthly meetings are held, and all members are encouraged to attend.

Los Compadres was created to facilitate relationships among the parents, teachers, and administrators, and to raise funds to support programs and activities that benefit the students who attend, or will attend, the school.

 

“What does Los Compadres do?”

Los Compadres’ activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing funds for enrichment programs that enhance academics and citizenship;
  • Providing financial or volunteer assistance to students, teachers, and administrators to supplement, implement, improve or compliment the learning environment and educational programs;
  • Purchasing materials and supplies, and providing funds for facility or site improvements.

 

“How do I become a member?”

There is no formal membership process or application.

Any parent, guardian or other adult standing in loco parentis for a student at the school may be a member and shall have voting rights. The principal and any teacher employed at the school may be a member and have voting rights.

If you fulfill the above requirements, and wish to be a member, then you are a member.

 

“What is Los Compadres de Escuela Longfellow’s Tax Payer ID #?”

The Tax Payer ID# is 76-0804393.

 

“How much are Los Compadres dues?”

Currenly, there are no mandatory membership dues.

Dues, if any, will be established by the executive board. If dues are charged, a member must have paid his or her dues at least 2 calendar days before the meeting to be considered a member in good standing with voting rights. Membership dues shall correspond with the fiscal year.

 

“To whom do I make checks payable?”

All check should be made payable to “Los Compadres de Escuela Longfellow.”
